About The Attempt

E-Boat Record and Aqua Voltis are set to break the world speed record for an electric boat — with a target of an extraordinary 140 MPH. But this isn’t about profit or fame. It’s about pushing the limits of what’s possible in technology, engineering, and human ambition. This groundbreaking project aims to demonstrate the viability of electric propulsion for large, high-speed vessels — from law enforcement and commercial operations to recreational use.

This effort is powered by a dedicated team of boat enthusiasts and industry-leading companies at the forefront of marine electrification. Together, they bring decades of experience in designing, building, and racing both traditional and electric boats. The challenges are real — but for the first time, technology has caught up with ambition. The conditions are right. The moment is now.

At the core of Aqua Voltis is a proven 10m (32') carbon fibre/Kevlar race catamaran — the Victory Skater M1 — a championship-winning vessel built for speed, agility, and stability.

Powering the boat are twin 550 HP electric motors, capable of sustaining the extreme energy required to exceed 140 MPH — not just once, but reliably and repeatedly. Until recently, motors capable of delivering this level of sustained high-speed performance over a 1km course simply didn’t exist.

One of the key breakthroughs lies in the motor controllers — engineered to handle nearly 1,000 volts and manage immense power loads with precision and reliability. Coupled with custom surface-piercing propellers, this combination represents a major leap forward in high-performance electric boating.

Another critical element is battery technology. Covering 1km at 140 MPH takes just 16 seconds — and delivering that volume of energy in such a short burst requires state-of-the-art batteries that have only recently become available.

With all the pieces finally in place, the next step is to bring them together, take to the water, and break the record.

This project wouldn’t be possible without the support and innovation of some of the world’s leading companies in electric marine technology — and it stands as a powerful showcase for their cutting-edge components.

This is more than a speed record.

It’s a bold statement about the future of electric boating — and a chance to make history.

sponsors & Partnerships

Our mission is driven by passion and determination — but breaking a world record also demands time, expertise, and financial backing.

To reach our goal of 140 MPH, we need cutting-edge motors, high-performance controllers, advanced battery systems, and a carbon fiber hull, all brought together by a skilled and dedicated team.

We’re seeking sponsors and partners who share our belief in innovation, sustainability, and the future of electric power. Whether you can contribute funds, specialised products, or technical expertise, your involvement will play a pivotal role in making this record-breaking attempt a reality.

The rewards go beyond being part of a world record — this is an opportunity to secure a place in history. From global media coverage to the potential for major streaming platform exposure (with talks already in progress with Netflix and Amazon), this journey promises to capture the world’s attention. Especially with the rise of the E1 Series racing class.

For those daring enough to take the helm, we’re offering training and licensing support — meaning you could even become the driver and see your name immortalised in the Guinness Book of Records.

This isn’t just about chasing a title — it’s about shaping the future of electric boating. If you’re ready to join an extraordinary journey filled with innovation, hard work, and unforgettable moments, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s make history together.

Bluebird K3

A few years ago we were asked to help get Sir Malcolm Campbell‘s K3 water speed record boat back to operation so that she could run again on Lake Maggiore to celebrate her 1937 129.50 mph run. Our role was to go over the whole boat and review the engine, fuel systems, electrics, drive chain and act as crew chief to the team. It took a few years, but we get her back there.
